How to Know if your Domain Name is due to Expire?
Go to Look Up a Domain and enter your domain name in the
search box. Be sure to specify the correct top level
domain (example: .com). Click the Look it up button.
Valid domains (ending in .com, .net, .org and .ed) will
result in a positive search. Then click the Show Me
WHOIS Output button to view the registration file. This
will also contain the expiry date. To check on the
status of a Canadian Domain Name (.ca) go to the
Canadian Internet Registration Authority and enter the
domain name in the WHOIS search box. If the name is
active you may view the registration file including the
expiry date.
You are also likely to receive e-mail notices from your
present registrar advising that your domain name's
expiry date is approaching. As your domain name is a
matter of public record, other registration companies
may contact you by e-mail or post mail with particular
offers. Some companies may offer equal or better
pricing, may or may not apply long-term commitments and
some may even be fraudulent. We believe we offer a most
competitive price structure. With that and with our
personal service and technical support we hope our
registrants will stay with us for years to follow.
Should you have any questions or concerns about your
domain name renewal or offers from other companies
please contact us and we'll help you to analyze and
understand the promotional offers. If it's a better deal
for you, we'll tell you.
Why you should act quickly if Transferring your Domain
Name to McCann & Cambrian!
Some domain name registration services invoke a domain
lock mechanism within close proximity to expiry date.
Most registrars do not practice what is somewhat a
controversial measure and others will set locking within
a few days of expiry. McCann & Cambrian does not invoke
domain locking. Some registrars will lock a domain up to
60 days before expiry. Therefore, when you have decided
to switch registrars, initiate the renewal process in
plenty of time to avoid domain name registration
locking. You will still receive full credit for the
remaining registration period, plus you will receive
credit for the full additional year or more you have
renewed. Domain names can be registered and renewed for
periods of up to 10 years.
