This Week's Quote
Quality is never an accident;
it is always the result of
intelligent effort.

DNS (Domain Name Service, also System or
Server)
Much easier to remember, domain names
are alphanumeric in nature, but the Internet
is primarily based on IP, or Internet
Protocol addresses which are numeric.
A DNS service translates the name into the
corresponding IP address.

The
Confidence Builder
Last week we talked about how large and
expansive the Internet is. Managing for
targeted traffic, the kind of traffic that
can be influenced and ripe in demand for
your products and services is Step One.
Once you have the attention of your target
market, you'll need to impress upon your
visitors why they should buy from you and
not your competitors. If you thought
pricing was the only way to beat the
competition you would be pleasantly
surprised to learn that other factors,
combined, can weight in heavily - more so
than a lower price tag.
Step Two: Creating Customer Confidence
When you walk into a store, or land on a web
site, without hesitation, probably before
you realize it, you've made some decisions
and judgments about who you could be dealing
with. Are you comfortable - are you
confident in your feelings about who you
could be handing your money over to?
While standing in a place of business you
can look, see and feel the merchandise and
you can speak in person to someone. A
web site does not allow such liberties and
so must include what we like to call,
"Comfort Factors". Tell your web site
visitor all about you, your staff and
company. Make it personal, welcoming
and sincere. Clearly describe your
products and services and include customer
testimonials. With the word of others,
your potential customer has more than just
your word to go by. Inspire customer
confidence by describing all the reasons one
would be encouraged to buy from you.
Be upfront about your Terms and Conditions
of Sale, and Privacy Policy.
You could be located half way around the
continent but still inspire an arm's reach
feeling by ensuring you include complete
contact information. E-Mail Addresses,
On Line Contact Form, your Geographical or
Physical Address and Telephone Numbers
including Toll Free and Fax. Use
custom and professional e-mail addresses -
nothing says "fly by night" louder than the
use of free Hotmail and YaHoo accounts for
business! Post your hours of business
enabling people to reach you directly,
rather than an answering machine
We'll cover more "Comfort Factors" in the
weeks to follow.
Customer Confidence is all about building
trust and credibility. Knowing you're
dependable is usually far more significant
than the amount on the price tag! |
