This Week's Quote
Four things for success: work
and pray, think and believe..
- Norman Vincent Peale

SQUEEZE PAGE
A page or pop-up window designed to obtain
the reader's name and e-mail address in
exchange for something of value such as an
opt-in newsletter or free offering.
Squeeze Pages are used by web site owners
and marketers to obtain permission-based
e-mail and sometimes other information to
follow up at a later date. This is another
example of Call to Action. |

A
Recipe for Success
In our newsletter, Blueprint for Success,
dated May 6, 2008 we provided a number of
objectives for your consideration in
planning a successful website. We
talked about promoting your product or
service via the web as your obvious primary
goal, but in doing so we wanted you to think
about how your site should improve your
visibility, improve your market position and
present you as one who is credible,
knowledgeable and trusted in
your line of business. At the risk of
being redundant from this and other
newsletters, we'd like to take this week's
Tuesday Morning Click Tip to a level where
once again we offer some suggestions as
ingredients for a successful website - what
to consider for actual content.
Content is compelling. Only this and a
few other significant factors will do well
to accomplish high page rankings from search
engine results. Your content should
include information about you, your product
and service and company. Complete
contact information, including your
geographical location is vital. Offer
your web visitor a variety of ways to
contact you, especially by telephone and
post mail, but also by e-mail and on line
mail forms submitted within the user's
browser. A fax number may also be
helpful. Describe your product or
service. Include photos, text
information, manuals and so on. Offer
a brochure or catalog that can be downloaded
or ordered by post or e-mail. If your
product or service is profiled in the media,
include links to the respective media or
ensure you have permission to display the
material on your on site, or both.
Having a Press Room on your site encourages
any form of media or researcher to take an
interest in what you have to offer.
Testimonials provided by your customers are
most effective. Consider a free
offering, and opt-in opportunities for
newsletters and special promotional
offerings. A site map, shopping cart
and related links page are all important.
Include articles you have written, and/or
include related but non-conflicting articles
published by others. We'll have more
on the importance of publishing and sharing
articles in an upcoming newsletter.
Last but not least, consider inviting
colours for your site, clear photos that are
not huge in size requiring long download
times and consider the overall load time for
your site. Spelling, punctuation,
clean fonts, clean backgrounds with coloured
boarders to accent the page and clear
navigation throughout the site are all
paramount to building a results oriented web
site. |
