Tools
For Servicing
In the Tuesday Morning Click Tip, Issue
Number 11, "Blueprint for Success", we
talked about the various kinds of objectives
for having a web site. And in Issue
Number 5, "At Your Service" we talked about
the competitive edge you can have simply by
offering better service. So this week we
focus on the idea of building customer
service and support into your site,
especially for the post-sale customer.
We'll turn your site into a tool rather than
leave it to serve only as a brochure for
your business!
Consider the number of ways you web site may
provide product or service support. If
you sell telephone or other electronic
equipment provide on line manuals for your
customers to access. If you sell
furniture, provide a section on your site
that provides emergency cleaning
instructions when grape juice has just been
spilled on your customer's new arm chair.
A dentist will want to provide important
information on what to do in a dental
emergency, such as what to do when a tooth
has just been knocked out.
More and more people depend on the Internet
around the clock for banking, ordering and
so on. If your company, for instance,
wholesales goods to retailers, devote a
section of your web site in which your
customers can place orders quickly and
effortlessly for delivery.
By adding these kinds of tools to your web
site, you'll free up your own time while
increasing your level of service to your
customers, and one more benefit to consider
is that by adding more content, you'll be
optimizing your site for better search
engine rankings. |
